Food Review: 545 Whampoa Prawn Noodles

I visited 545 Whampoa Prawn Noodles yesterday and last Sunday. It is one of the best prawn noodles I have eaten in Singapore. Check out their Facebook Page.

I ordered the $4 Soup version. As you can see, the serving is decent. I reached at around 11am and there was a short queue. However, it rather fast and I gotten my food in less than 15 minutes.

It is GODLIKE. You can taste the goodness of the prawn. The soup is rich and tasteful, but never saltish. It was the first time I finished the soup of Prawn Noodle, apart from the Hokkien Mee in Penang.

The ingredients are fresh and you would have to worry about wasting your calories when eating the prawn noodle. Every mouth is worth the effort.

You can order either the $3 or $4 version. Sometimes, they have the ultra big prawns (palm size) and they are available at $8/$10. I will definitely find time to try it (sold out yesterday).

Some history/background
This hawker stall is helmed by a young woman, Ruifang, spurred on by the need to carry her dad’s prawn noodles recipe into a new generation. The roots of prawn noodles in Ruifang’s family go as far back into the 1950s when her grandfather started selling it along the streets of Whampoa before it was even named so. In 1973, Whampoa Market was built. As her grandfather fell ill, Ruifang's Dad and Grandmother took a stall, and has been selling prawn noodles since then. The current stall at Whampoa Market is run by Ruifang's aunts. With the guidance of her dad, Ruifang is bringing bowls of tradition and history to Tekka Food Centre.

From Green to Orange

The first reaction when people heard that I am jumping from the green camp to the orange camp is "WHY M1???".

Nah. I have joined Lazada.

I will never join another company in the same industry, especially M1.
Two reasons: 1) Too far. 2) They no proper sensing of social.

My first working week in Lazada has ended. I like the place and environment.

For someone who has been eating lunch alone most of the time during my days as a Community Manager, I welcome the idea of having lunch together with my new colleagues. The first week was an enjoyable experience.

Over at Lazada, I feel that I am able to dish out all my ideas and the whole social media is actually my playground. Unlike back in StarHub where I felt overshadowed by my boss. My playground back then was much smaller and I was actually taking care of the son of the 2nd wife. Those days are finally over.

With a much bigger playground and more liberty, I will be able to excel even further.

Anyway, my week ended on a high note when the FB contest that I did some changes to has finally begin to see some results. And it was way above the average engagement that the rest of the contests have achieved.

Do check out Lazada for our great offers. We are having attractive deals everyday!

10 reasons why I decided to take up an iPhone

After so many years, I have finally decided to take up an iPhone.
During my 55 months in StarHub, can't afford an iPhone at all.
Within 2 weeks after leaving, I immediately gotten an iPhone.

Reason: $400 Employee Mobile Voucher doesn't help much.
$400 off RRP doesn't help at all.
It is still like buying the handset at subsidised rate with the lowest tier plan.

Serious talk.

Reason 1 of why I get an iPhone: I need a phone that allow me to run Lazada app
Reason 2 of why I get an iPhone: It is cheaper than Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and HTC M9 on StarHub 4G 6 Plan
Reason 3 of why I get an iPhone: Wife says LG G4 is ugly
Reason 4 of why I get an iPhone: I feel it is time to get an iPhone
Reason 5 of why I get an iPhone: I wanna buy chio phone covers
Reason 6 of why I get an iPhone: Easier to work with my MacBook Pro
Reason 7 of why I get an iPhone: I wanna be ATAS
Reason 8 of why I get an iPhone: I wanna be mainstream
Reason 9 of why I get an iPhone: I song
Reason 10 of why I get an iPhone: I just wanna own an iPhone for once

kthxbye

10 years of friendship and we went Penang - Day 3 & 4

Day 3 and we woke up extremely early to have dimsum.

The bill came to around RM131. Which worked out to be 55SGD.
Less than 10SGD per person. Where can you find this in Singapore?

After breakfast, we went off in search of street arts and the Cat Cafe.

We saw this chio bu on the street and decided to approach her.

Somehow she told JJ where to go.

What the duck

Hao and I had some fun while the girls rest.

Coffee, Tea or Hao?

What should we do with a mirror?

More photos while searching for the Cat Cafe.

We stumbled upon a market.

And we reached Love Lane.
Lotsa cafes there.

More street arts.

And Cat Cafe Time!

Followed by the Camera Museum.

Some shop selling postcards.

And more photos before we called it a day and went for some massage.

Dinner after massage at Gurney Drive.

Followed by some K-Ing session.

Day 4

Back to Singapore!
